Create custom measures, adapt existing measures, and instantly begin capturing your patient’s progress to help guide you and them through their healing process. Use scheduled reminders to prompt them to take their assessments at any frequency you want.

Why Should I Use Outcome Measures

Research shows that measuring outcomes improves diagnostic accuracy, creates stronger communication between client and clinician, enhances treatment monitoring, and help clients maintain positive effects of treatment for longer periods.

Outcome measures used in the mental health care environment include tools that evaluate changes in health and wellbeing by capturing metrics across multiple areas of client functioning, symptoms, and treatment experiences at baseline as well as at one or more points after treatment has begun. Measures may include brief questionnaires, checklists, and worksheets that monitor your patient's progress, facilitate communication between clinician and the patient, improve the quality of treatment, and improve the prognosis of mental health symptoms. In addition, many insurance carriers require such measures as a part of their Standards of Care and not having them can lead to higher scrutiny of your charts and practice.

MHISystems Outcome Measures Program

Outcome measures can be distributed as frequently as you like. They can be administered weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. In order to be effective, the measures must:

  • accurately and consistently capture a particular outcome
  • be sensitive to change, and
  • be comparable across specific populations (e.g., adolescents), types of treatment (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy), and treatment settings (e.g., an intensive outpatient program)

MHIsystems offers this feature at an affordable cost. Comparable systems can run as high as $700 per month and require long term commitments. We offer a robust solution that allows you to offer this same level of service for as little as $59 per month for individual practitioners.

Types of Outcome Measures

There are hundreds of outcome measures that can capture clinician, client, and/or third-party perspectives. They may focus on wellbeing, recovery, cognition, emotions, relationships, life satisfaction, or general functioning.

MHIsystems offers outcome measure support providing measures to monitor clinical outcomes related to changes in symptoms for specific diagnoses such as the Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9) for depression, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7 (GAD-7) for anxiety, or the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PCL-5) for PTSD, and several others as stock assessments. In addition, we offer clinicians the ability to create custom assessments tailored to specific clients, known as Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMS). MHIsystems can develop custom outcome measures for your practice and your patients on a case by case basis. Email for more information.

Diagnosis Driven by the Referral (Trigger Questions)

Understand your patient before the first session. Built on an intake system that has already been through the insurance audit process, MHIsystems gets you closer to a defensible diagnosis that meets the criteria for "medical necessity." Driven by an underlying artificial intelligence algorithm, each suggested diagnosis is determined based on DSM and ICD 10/11 diagnostic criteria resulting in a fully descriptive ICD diagnosis without the need for expensive testing. Each algorithm assesses for primary and rule out conditions and let's the clinician see what symptoms best characterize the client's experience.

Diagnostic algorithms evaluate the following common conditions:

  • Adjustment Disorder
  • Addiction
  • ADHA
  • Anxiety
  • Child Anxiety
  • Behavior
  • Adult and Pediatric Bipolar
  • Adolescent Behaviors (e.g., Conduct Disorder)
  • Depression
  • Eating Disorder

  • Gender Dysphoria and Transgender
  • OCD
  • Chronic Pain
  • Personality Disorders
  • Psychosis
